JHB Broncos raise $1575 for kids!

Dec. 21, 2018

WWHSHL Off Ice Victories. An inspiring Story of Great Teamwork!

On December 10, the JHB Broncos hosted a Charity Hockey Game versus the CSLR Renards in support of the Children's Hospital.  The Game was the finale to a successful fundraising campaign led by Goalie Haillie Yewchyn, which raised an incredible $1575 and 50 toys for children at the hospital.   Haillie and her team spent several off-ice hours in advance of the game soliciting donations from within the school, door-to-door and from local businesses. They also hosted silent auction and 50/50 draws during the game to encourage additional fan contributions.

When asked about the inspiration for this fundraising event, Haillie said her team wanted to do something for other kids. "Children in hospital aren’t able to experience a lot of things that life has to offer. We wanted to make sure that these children have a big smile on their face and feel the joy that should be felt on Christmas."

Head Coach Maeve Hawash beamed "It was amazing to watch my girls work together to make the Children’s Hospital Charity Game a huge success. I’m so fortunate to coach such a caring and giving group and I’m extremely proud of all of them, especially Haillie Yewchyn, for organizing the girls and this event."
