Ending March 3, 2023 (Playoff Semi-Finals)

Mar. 07, 2023

Congratulations to the Playoff Semi-Finals' Players of the Week ending March 3, 2023. You can also view the Players of the Week Archives

Division 1: Isabela Huculak, Churchill Bulldogs, Forward #17

Isabela had a good semi-final series despite her team’s rocky, game one start Tuesday. The CJS Olympiens dominated, racking up goals for a 10-3 win over the Bulldogs. Despite the score, Isabela played a solid game and picked up an assist. Determined to avoid a second loss, Isabela turned up the heat during game 2 Thursday. Her hard work, battles on the boards and in the corners, kept the competition at bay and earned her the game winning goal in a thrilling 2-1 victory.  In game 3, Isabella showed the same passion with a quick goal, and with the score tied in the third, she dug deep and once again scored the game winning goal for a 4-3 game and series win. Congratulations Isabela!

Division 2: Annick Espenell, Believeau Barracudas, Defence #2

Annick was a solid, determined player helping the Barracudas claim the semi-final series win against the Lorette Scorpions in two straight games. During game one Monday, Annick dominated the ice offensively and defensively, eventually taking control and scoring the lone goal and game winner at the 5:00 minute mark of the 3rd period.  Game 2 Wednesday was another battle against the Scorpions with Annick assisting on 2 goals in their 4-2 game and series win.  Congratulations Annick!

Division  3: Emily Schmeichel, Dakota Lancers, Goalie #1

A hot goalie at the right time matters, and during the Division 3 semi-final series Emily’s efforts were crucial to the Lancers’ semi-final series win against the CPET Canadiennes.  In game one Tuesday, Emily had an outstanding performance making 24 of 24 saves, earning her a shut out and her team a critical 1-0 win. In the second game of the series Wednesday, Emily once again came up big, stopping 19 of 20 shots, many of them excellent scoring opportunities, claiming a 2-1 win and series victory.  Congratulations Emily!
