Division 1: Lana Cipriano, Shaftesbury Titans, Defence #17
In a hard fought battle between the Shaftesbury Titans and the Churchill Bulldogs that went to game three of the series, Lana showed her great desire to win. In game one on Tuesday the Titans came out on top by a score of 2-0. Although Lana was not on the scoreboard she played a huge role by directing the game from her defensive position. Two days later, Churchill came out fighting and were victorious in game two by a score of 4-1 but Lana was the hardest working player out there. With the series tied at 1 win each, Lana stepped up to lead her team by example. She scored 2 goals and added 2 assist in a 4-2 victory to win the series on Friday. Congratulations Lana!
Division 2: Alyssa Downing, Garden City Gophers, Forward #20
The Garden City Gophers and the Miles Mac Buckeyes went the distance in a best of three series and Alyssa played an integral part of the games. In game one on Wednesday, Alyssa scored 2 goals late in the third period to tie the game and changed the game in an instant as they ended up winning 3-2. The next day in game two she was kept off the score sheet but played hard and skillful, setting up her team on numerous occasions but the Gophers ended with a 5-3 loss. Game three was a different game on Friday as the Gophers came out strong and fast and with Alyssa’s scoring ability she popped in 3 goals and an assist, having a big impact in their 5-0 win. Congratulations Alyssa!
Division 3: Alex Tracy, Murdoch MacKay, Forward #19
Alex helped her team beat the Beausejour Barons in two games. In game one on Monday she was in the right place at the right time, was always an available shooter in the slot and was often open on the back door. She knew how and when to get the puck to her teammates. In their 6-0 win, Alex scored 2 goals and added an assist and showed what an all around smart player she is. Game two on Wednesday turned out to be quite a different game. This 3-2 barn burner OT had Alex once again demonstrating what a reliable player she is. She knew where to be and as a result she scored the game winning goal at 7:31. Congratulations Alex!
