Division 1: Emily Gagne, VMC Trojans, Forward #10
In a hard fought battle against the West Kildonan Wolverines on Wednesday, Emily scored 2 goals and added 2 assists leading her team offensively to an 8-5 victory. Her contributions away from the play included a hard fore checking style, impressive defensive work in her own zone and a selfless approach to the game, setting up her teammates for a number of good scoring opportunities. Congratulations Emily!
Division 2: Alyssa Downing, Garden City Gophers, Forward #20
Alyssa with a touch for putting the puck in the opponents goal led her team to a 2-0 record this week. She put her quick hard shot to use on Monday, scoring 2 goals in a 3-2 win over the Lorette Scorpions. In the Gophers next game against the River East Kodiaks on Friday, she duplicated her performance by scoring another 2 goals in a 3-1 victory. But Alyssa doesn’t just score goals, she can see the whole ice surface and knows where and when to move the puck up the ice. Congratulations Alyssa!
Division 3: Sofia Lund, PCI Saints, Goalie #30
It was a terrific week for a terrific goalie as Sofia was a brick wall for the Saints in a busy three game week. On Monday against the SJR Eagles, she made some fabulous saves as she stopped 27 of 28 shots with a SAV% of 0.96 for a 4-1 win. Two days later Sofia was still hot as she stopped 20 of 23 shots with a SAV% of 0.87 against Murdoch MacKay, helping the Saints to a 5-3 victory. Finally on Thursday, Sofia hindered the Springfield Sabres by stopping 38 of 39 shots with a SAV% of 0.97 and earned another win of 2-1. Congratulations Sofia!
