25th Anniversary Alumni Profile - Dakota Lancers Stacey Corfield (West)
Extraordinary Player, Coach, Nurse
Seasons: 2001-2005
Position: Goalie
Stacey’s Experience:
“I loved having the opportunity to play high school hockey. Having four age groups involved in one team made for a stronger team and league. There was an ability for older players to mentor younger, up and coming players, which was a great experience to be a part of. I think aspects of being a part of the high school hockey team helped prepare for university hockey. Each week we would have to leave classes early to attend practices and games, leaving homework and assignments to get caught up on. This was a big part of University hockey and travelling while completing school work, so having done this in high school on a smaller scale made the transition to university easier.”

What is Stacey doing today?
“I attended the University of Manitoba where I was a student-athlete with the Women’s Hockey Team for 5 years while completing my Bachelor of Nursing. I am a military spouse, and we were posted to Ontario 5 years ago, where I am currently a Peri-operative Nurse. Prior to that, I was a Surgical Nurse on the Burn Unit at HSC, Clinical Educational Facilitator for the University of Manitoba, and since our posting have had experience with other nursing positions.”
Most Memorable Moment:
"My most memorable story from playing in WWHSHL would have been winning the first WWHSHL championship for Dakota. That whole season and the team we had was something to experience and a cohesiveness I will always remember. I was able to play with two childhood friends I grew up playing with in northern Manitoba so that made the season even more special."
