- Coach, Garden City Collegiate - 2014-2017, WWHSHL Division Champions 2016-17

An Interview with Carrie:

 Q. Why do you do it?

"I love coaching extra-curricular sports. Seeing girls develop as players, and people, over 3-4 years is so encouraging and motivating and makes the time we spend coaching well worth it. I loved being a part of the executive team helping grow this league to where it is today. The more girls we can have playing hockey in the community the better! My high school growing up didn't have a girls hockey team, so I was very invested in providing that experience for our WWHSHL teams and future teams."

 Q. Do you have a favourite memory?

"My best memory as a coach was building a team at Garden City with Donnie Smith and eventually winning a championship. We didn't have a big team, and we worked hard to keep it consistent, but we persevered and won the championship that year with a whole crew of amazing girls working together. As an executive member, seeing the excitement on our players' faces when we brought out the female Timbits hockey players as intermission entertainment for an All Star Game has to be up there. The smiles from both teams was an indication of how important it is to have female mentors in the sports we play. They grew up looking up to female hockey players, and now they had the chance to be the role models."
