Players of the Week - 2016-17


Week ending March 3, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to VMC Trojans’ Taylor McDermott, an outstanding goalie with a hot hand during this playoff week. In game 2 of the series against the St. Mary’s Flames, Taylor stopped all 19 shots headed her way in a 3-0 win. In the 3rd and deciding game, Taylor was once again up to the challenge as she stopped 19 of 20 shots, leading her team to 3-1 win, taking the series and advancing to the Championship finals.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Garden City Gophers’ Emily Daniels, a relentless forward who helped her team defeat the # 1 seeded team, the PCI Saints, in 2 straight games. In game 1, Emily scored 2 goals as the Gophers surprised the Saints with a 4-3 win. In game 2, the Gophers prevailed 3-2 in overtime with Emily scoring 1 goal and an assist.

Week ending February 24, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations St. Mary’s Flames Haley Steciuk! Haley was instrumental in two team victories this week scoring 1 goal and 2 helpers in a 5-0 victory over the Dakota Lancers, and 2 days later, chipping in with another goal and an assist in a thrilling 4-3 victory over the powerful VMC Trojans.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations PCI Saints Bailey Grantham! Showing incredible performance leadership, the Saints captain was on fire this week. In Game 1 of the playoff series, the upstart Fort Richmond Centurions defeated the Saints 4-3 with Bailey chipping in a goal and an assist. In game 2, Baily fire grew stronger with 3 assists in a 4-3 victory, and in the closing game, Bailey scored a goal and an assist in a 4-1 game and series win.

Week ending February 17, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to St. Mary’s Flames’ Aimee Patrick, a power forward who had hot hands in the playoff series battle against the Dakota Lancers. In game one, Aimee had 3 assists in their 4-2 win, and turning it up a notch in game two, she scored 2 goals and 2 assists in their 5-4 OT loss.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Fort Richmond Centurions’ Alyssa Kaminsky, a star goalie who lived up to her billing and potential during the first week of playoffs, slamming the door on the Kelvin Clippers. Game 1 saw Alyssa stop 22 out of 23 shots the 2-1 win, and a flawless performance in game two, stopping all 35 shots in a shut-out 4-0 victory.

Week ending February 10, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulation’s to Shaftesbury Titans’ Haley Proteau for her outstanding offensive play in her team’s two wins this week. Haley started the week scoring 1 goal and 3 assists against the Selkirk Royals (7-4); and although off the score sheet in her second game, she was a dominate in her forecheck and on ice presence against the VMC Trojans (5-0). Haley finishes the season with 25 points.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Sturgeon Heights Huskies’ Annaliese Meier for her performance this week. Annaliese scored 1 goal and 2 assists in her team’s win against the Miles Mac Buckeyes (4-3) and the only 2 goals in her team’s loss to the Beliveau Barracudas (5-2). Annaliese has 60 points for the season.

Week ending February 3, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to St. Mary’s Flames’ Erin Liebzeit on her hat-trick and incredible performance vs Westwood Warriors on Monday night. Erin led her team to a 6-2 win by opening the scoring in the first period, then breaking the game open with another two of her team’s four goals in the second, sealing the win for the Flames.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to PCI Saints’ Maddie Shwaluk for her five-point game versus the Beliveau Barracudas. Maddie was fire on ice with a hat-trick and two assists in her team’s 8-0 win. She opened the game with an assist and then exploded in the second period with two goals and an assist.

Week ending January 27, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to CJS Olympiens’ Anya Dedio who back stopped her team’s two wins this week over the Westwood Warriors (3-1) and St. Mary’s Flames (2-1), as well as a hard-fought loss to the Shaftesbury Titans (2-1). Over the course of the week, Anya stopped 61 of 65 shots. Impressive!
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to River East Kodiaks’ Emily Koop whose two goals and two assists helped her team come from behind in a nail-biting victory over the Kelvin Clippers this week. Emily added a third assist and fifth point for the week during another edge of the seat OT win against the Lorette Scorpions. Emily has 38 points for the season.

Week ending January 20, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Selkirk Royals Jodi Clifton for her incredible goaltending this week. Jodi back stopped two thrilling games - a 2-1 win against the VMC Trojans and a 3-2 SO loss against the Westwood Warriors. Jodi stopped 39 of 42 shots in 1:05 minutes of play this week. Tremendous goaltending!
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Lorette Scorpions Mackenzie Borgfjord who scored two goals in her team’s 3-1 win against the Fort Richmond Centurions, and two goals and an assist in her team’s 3-5 loss to the Springfield Sabres. Mackenzie’s perseverance netted a total of 4 goals and an assist for a total of 5 points this week and 24 for the season.

Week ending January 13, 2017

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Emily McDonald who’s goaltending gave her team a chance to win in two losses this week. Emily started the week with 16 saves in Monday’s game against the Dakota Lancers (4-2); and in an unreal performance against the Shaftesbury Titans (4-0) on Friday, she made 56 saves!
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Springfield Sabres’ Dana Schultz who’s focused goaltending and quick reflexes earned her a second shut out this season in a 1-0 victory against the St. John’s Ravenscourt Eagles. Schlutz turned away all 23 shots in the nail biter.

Week ending December 23, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Shaftesbury Titans’ Emma Klippenstein aka Iron Woman for 50 minutes of straight end to end play against the Westwood Warriors this week, leaving the ice at the end of period 2, and still managing to score 2 goals and an assist in a brilliant display of stamina and focus. As we end of the first half of the season, Emma is the leading team scorer with 20 points.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Beliveau Barracudas’ Jenna Fisette who scored a hat-trick in a very tight and hard fought game this week against the stubborn West Kildonan Wolverines, including the tying goal late in the third period of the 4-3 win. As we end of the first half of the season, Jenna is the leading team scorer with 24 points.

Week ending December 16, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Dakota Lancers’ Risa Shatford, our CTV Division Player of the Week. This stellar center strong on the penalty kill and pushing relentlessly to victory, scored 3 goals and an assist in a very exciting 5-4 win over the red hot Oak Park Raiders. Risa leads team scoring with 20 points this season.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Elise Catellier, our Winnipeg Free Press Division Player of the Week. This crafty forward and catalyst in her line, assisted on the tying goal in a hard-fought game against the powerful Springfield Sabres, then scored the winning goal at 1:01 in the 3rd edging the Sabres out. Elise leads team scoring with 10 points this season.

Week ending December 9, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Oak Park Raiders’ Dana Poulton for her play making skills this past week. Dana contributed a goal and an assist in her team’s loss to the St. Mary’s Flames; another assist in their loss against the Shaftesbury Titans; and then scored a huge goal to secure a tie in the nail biting week’s closing game against the VMC Trojans. Dana has 6 points for the season.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Kelvin Clippers’ Coco Diamond-Burchuk who has been on fire the past month. Coco turned up the jets against the Garden City Gophers scoring a goal in regulation time and then another in a thrilling 3-2 shoot out win. Coco is the leading team scorer with 15 points this season.

Week ending December 2, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Selkirk Royals Courtney Sorokopud-Jones, who in a battle of two heavyweights, scored a goal and an assist as the Royals knocked off the CJS Olympiens 4-2 in an action-packed game that was fun to watch and fun to play. Courtney has a total of 9 points for the season.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Lorette Scorpions’ Emily Whittington, the back bone of her team, who stopped 21 of 22 shots fired her way defeating the SJR Eagles 2-1, and then later in the week, stopped 33 of 35 shots mustered up by the Fort Richmond Centurions in a 4-2 victory.

Week ending November 25, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Jamie Gledhill, who’s hot hand kept the Warriors flying this week. Jamie scored 1 goal and an assist in the 6-3 victory over the Oak Park Raiders, and two days later, scored another 3 goals in a heart breaking 5-4 OT loss to the CJS Olympiens. Jamie has 8 points for the season.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to JH Bruns Broncos’ Sydni Eden who had a stellar week with an assist in a tight 2-1 win over the Garden City Gophers, and later in the week, scored 1 goal and the shoot out winner in their 3-2 victory over the Miles Mac Buckeyes. Sydni has 5 points for the season.

Week ending November 18, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to VMC Trojans’ Taylor McDonald on a rewarding week; scoring 1 goal in the Trojans’ exciting 3-0 victory over the Selkirk Royals, 2 assists in their thrilling 4-3 loss to the St. Mary’s Flames, and 1 more goal and an assist in the barn burner, 6-4 victory over the Dakota Lancers. Points total to date for the season: 8
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to PCI Saints’ Bailey Grantham, a League veteran and perennial all-star, who had an exceptional week; scoring 5 goals and 2 assists in the Saints victory over the Kildonan East Reivers, and 2 assists in the hard fought 3-2 victory over the Miles Mac Buckeyes. Total points to date for the season: 26

Week ending November 11, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Shaftesbury Titans’ forward Emily Fraser, who scored 2 goals and added an assist in her team’s 8-0 win over the Oak Park Raiders. Emily was swift with the puck in all zones and extremely dominant in the offensive zone. Emily has 8 points for the season.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulation’s to Sturgeon Heights Huskies’ goaltender Mercedes Ward, who backstopped her team to two wins this week. Mercedes started the week with a 23 save shutout performance in her team’s 5-0 win over the SJR Eagles. In the final game, she made 22 saves, and showing great rebound control, closed the door in overtime to secure her team’s 3-2 OT win vs. Miles Mac.

Week ending November 6, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Dakota Lancers’ Sonya Neale who was red hot as she scored 2 big goals this week; her second being the game winner late in the third period in a hard fought 5-3 victory over the powerful Shaftesbury Titans. Sonya was all over the ice and in addition to her scoring touch played a tough defensive game.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to SJR Eagles’ Alyssa Denis who was sensational this week. In game one, Alyssa stopped 29 shots in regular time and then stonewalled the Kelvin Clippers in over time and the shoot out to help her team to a 3-2 victory. In game two, she stopped all the shots the Miles Mac Buckeyes could muster in another shoot out and 1-0 win victory.

Week ending October 28, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to the brilliant playmaking of CJS Olympiens’ Naomie Berube, who scored both goals in a close 2-1 victory over the Dakota Lancers, and then potted the only two goals in another close 2-1 victory over the VMC Trojans. Naomie has a total of 4 points this season.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to River East Kodiaks’ Janelle Perrault, a hard skating forward, who helped her team to 2 victories this week; scoring two goals and an assist in their 6-1 win over the Sturgeon Heights Huskies, and another 2 goals in a wild 8-7 shootout against the Fort Richmond Centurions. Janelle has a total of 9 points this season.

Week ending October 21, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to VMC Trojans’ Genevieve Houghton who scored 2 goals in their hard fought 3-1 victory over the tough Dakota Lancers. Genevieve was both an offensive and defensive threat as she carried the play in their victory.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Garden City Gophers’ Madison Jopling who scored 3 goals and added 5 assists in their victory over Kildonan East, and three days later, chipped in with 2 goals in an 8-5 victory over the Kelvin Clippers.

Week ending October 14, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to St Mary’s Flames’ power forward Alana Lesperance who was on fire in the League opener as she potted 1 goal in their 3-2 victory over the Dakota Lancers. Alana followed that up the next day, scoring 2 goals in their 3-1 win over the visiting Westwood Warriors.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Fort Richmond Centurions’ outstanding forward Hannah Pales who scored a goal in regulation time and then potted the winner in over time in their 3-2 win over the Miles Mac Buckeyes. Later in the week, Hannah also lead her team to a 4-1 win over the PCI Saints by scoring all 4 goals.
