The PCI Saints girls hockey team was started in the 2006-07 season after the amalgamation of the city’s two high schools, Portage Collegiate Institute and Arthur Meighen High School. Prior to hitting the ice, school staff and the community rallied together to get the program off the ground. With 17 girls coming out in the fall of 2006 for the first “try-out†sessions, the team was born. With acceptance in the Winnipeg Women’s High School Hockey League, the team was set for their first season.
